Hazel Goh graduated from Nanyang Technological University in 2016 with a Bachelors (Hons) in Psychology with a Minor in Education Studies. She is currently pursuing her Masters in School Psychology in the University of Houston – Clear Lake, U.S.A. She was awarded the LoneStar LEND fellowship, which seeks to groom leaders within the field of neurodevelopmental disabilities.
Hazel has experience working with clients in a myriad of settings, such as individual and group interventions within clinical and home settings, as well as special education schools. She has worked with children with a range of special needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Dyslexia from mainstream, international and special education schools. Her experience has made her well versed in identifying the strengths and weaknesses and applying varied approaches such as TEACHH, PECS and Feuerstein.
Hazel holds a certificate in Dyscalculia and Numeracy Teaching from Dyslexia Association Singapore. She has been trained in dyslexia and dyscalculia management, Lindamood Bell (Seeing Stars, On Cloud Nine & LiPS), Conscious Discipline, TEACCH Programme, DIR Floortime, Learn to Play, Feuerstein Mediated Learning, Narrative Intervention (Carol Westby) and Second Step. She has also worked closely with Dr. Shamini Logannathan to conceptualise a handwriting therapy program, focusing on both the phonological and handwriting components in mastering literacy. The program encapsulates the importance of transdisciplinary efforts in providing interventions for children.
Hazel firmly believes in collaboration with other professionals and family to help the child to grow to his or her fullest potential. She is passionate about ensuring holistic development for the child, while taking the child’s individual needs into consideration. She focuses on the importance of generalisable and functional skill sets.
